Hi guys, I hope you are all well. I want to apologise for not posting every week like I said I would however school had started and I was busy, to make it up to you all, I shall be posting twice next week :)
Now I know I don't have a massive audience however this blogpost is regarding a topic that I think we need to talk about. Anti Muslim attacks. As a Muslim teen living in todays Western society I feel scared to go out knowing that I could get verbally or even physically abused just because of my religion.
Recently an incident took place days after the UK government introduced new plans to record anti-Muslim attacks. The Women was arrested after a video showing a women racially abusing two female Muslim passengers on board a bus, as well as shouting anti-Muslim slurs to them, went viral this week. Not only did the women verbally abuse the two women but she also threatened to physically attack both the women.
It says in the Qur'an 'Whoever kills an innocent human being, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and whoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind'
- 5:32
Islam is against terrorism, Islam means peace so how can we be terrorists? How can we support violence?
All these stereotypes about Muslims that we are all terrorists who like to bomb everything up really hurts because no Muslim would bomb anything, the so called Muslim terrorists aren't even Muslims.
What they show in the media has an an affect on us. Imagine getting stereotyped and hated on just because of your religion, no one should go through that.
Muslims are humans too, I am a Muslim and I believe in gender equality. I am a Muslim and I'm not a terrorist. I am a Muslim and I am a strong independent girl. I am a Muslim and I am educated. I am a muslim and I'm against bullying. I am a Muslim and hijab is my choice. I am Muslim and I am not oppressed. I am a Muslim and I stand for peace and harmony. I am Muslim and I can't wait for the day my religion will be accepted in society where we won't get verbally or physically attacked, where we won't have to be scared to leave our homes, where we won't have to worry about our choice of clothes and our hijab and where we won't be deemed as a terrorist.
